The Old Changi Hospital

The Old Changi Hospital is arguably one of the most famous haunted locations in Singapore today. Constructed in 1935 at Netharavon Road in Changi District, the seven storey compound was used as a Barracks and served the British as the Royal Air Force (RAF) Hospital.

That was about 9 years before the famous Japanese Occupation took place.

During a charge commanded by the Japanese in February 1942, the British defense lines broke & Changi fell. The Hospital was then converted to a Prison Camp and Military Hospital for the Japanese, where sick and injured people were attended to.

It is now left vacant, even after tens of years since the Japanese Occupation, with the new Changi General Hospital replacing it's operations in 1997. There are currently no plans for OCH, meaning that the place would still be around for probably years to come.

Records of Prisoners Of War being tortured to death inside it's torture chambers remain a famous theory. Screams and shadows could be seen and heard at some of the wards. It also witnessed the passing of more then thousands of patients.

With the massacres happening near the hospital compounds, it is safe to assume that spirits of all kinds would be lurking in the vicinity, causing this place to be indeed, haunted.

There are many sources out there which suggests a possible Underground Bunker which connects to a nearby Barracks. The tunnels were supposedly sealed up by the government years ago. The location of the Bunker entrance is unknown, though there are several speculated spots around the Hospital.

The Hospital also suffered major damages during it's long run after the occupation. Shattered windows, broken glass and debris can be found on almost every level in the building, not to mention the Graffiti sprayed onto the walls by mischievous culprits. No wonder entry is now restricted per orders from the Government.

There is also a ''Fridge'' in the Hospital which can store up to 3 corpses at one time. Near it is a Switch Box which can control the temperature of this fridge. Spooky, isn't it?

This marks the end of our cover on the Old Changi Hospital. Thanks for reading and stay tuned for our next coverage. :)
